By the time I wrote this post, up until this point where youโre reading this, I have only finished Edmonton-Toronto round trip and not yet done the Edmonton-Vancouver part which should be the greatest part of the entire Via Rail experience. However, surely updates will be posted soon once I get to try that bits of the utmost Via Rail journey!
The possibly best summer in my life that I had been very much looking forward to has finally come! Iโm happy to admit that I had been very fortunate to have come and lived in Canada this year, for this year the country is celebrating its 150th birthday meaning amazing once-in-a-lifetime deals of tourism are lining up. What everyone had foreseen since last year was that the entrance to all national parks are becoming free for this entire year, but one thing that came as a great surprise was that: Via Rail offered a 150$ Canada 150 Youth Pass which means with 150$ you could basically travel to anywhere across Canada using Via Rail train service, for the entire July 2017. How cool was that?!
The intense yet thrilling trip to The States didn’t end in Chicago, we had just one more stop to cross off our itineraries: Disneyland in California!
Needless to say, the two day trip to Disneyland and Disney Adventure Park was such a wrap. And this time we sure cannot help not bringing some Disney memento back home, so our first attraction to visit was the souvenir shop. I wanted to bring home Marie the cat’s hat, but ended up getting Yoda’s hat while Adhi got himself Chewie’s. Worth every penny.
I ended 2016 and began 2017 doing something I never really thought in a lifetime I would do: taking a train trip from the very easternmost state of United States of America to the very westernmost one. Yes, together with some amazing companions, I journeyed through the land of U.S.A., which is pretty much equivalent with literally going from the easternmost border of the continent of North America to the westernmost side. By road. Yes, it was one heck of a remarkable once-in-a-lifetime trip in summary.
Chicago was our third destination during our first trip to The States. Having learned from the previous couple of cities, I had a feeling that this city was also going to be all about expecting the unexpected. Iโve never had a particular amibition to make a visit here, as neither have I about NYC and Washington that were such metropolitan cities I thought I wouldnโt fall for, but Peter (and other sources on internet) convinced Adhi and me that we had to celebrate the New Yearโs Eve in Chicago.
It was apparently a wise decision to make and Iโll sure tell you why.
I truthfully came to Washington without any expectations. Just like New York, this capital of the States was actually never on my bucket list, but the proximity to New York ensured me that we had to spend at least a day trip here. And all those world famous Smithsonian Museums, of course, I couldnโt say no to such opportunities. So after wrapping up in NYC, Adhi, Peter, May, and I headed south towards Washington D.C. Me, feeling excited but not so much, is apparently about to be so wrong.
